I live out of a flooding zone. Yet, as I watch those that are being asked to evacuate I try to put it in perspective. It would be like asking the 2 towns I live near to evacuate. To give another comparison it would be like asking 1/2 of Tacoma, Washington (population nearly 200,000) to evacuate. Maybe it would be good to evaluate what disaster could cause you to evacuate.
This reemphasises why this has been a year for my family to get as much in order as possible.
